'Major drug dealer' arrested

Prachuap Khiri Khan police on Friday announced the arrest of a man thought to be a major drug dealer in Ratchaburi province.

Pol Maj Gen Thanet Sunthorasuk, chief of Prachuap Khiri Khan police, and Pol Lt Col Wacharapong Rob-art, head of the anti-narcotics division in the province, announced the arrest of Atthapol Sriphongam, allegedly the right-hand man of Sathit Kamsuk, one of the biggest drug dealers in Ratchaburi.

Pol Maj Gen Thanet said police found 10 methamphetamine pills, or yaba, in the suspect's possession and raided two of the gang's hideouts in Hua Hin district.

However, Mr Sathit, the gang leader, fled before police got there, he said.

Two members of the gang, Sophon Saengpuang and Nanthawat Samramkamol, were arrested at their hideout and police seized one handgun, 10 bullets, one M67 genade and 167 yaba pills during the raid.

Police arrested another suspect, Eakkachai Apiburanakarn, at a guesthouse nearby and seized two handguns and 20 bullets.
