Network files against 315 lawmakers

A group of people on Tuesday petitioned the Constitution Court to rule whether 315 MPs and senators led by Parliament President Somsak Kiatsuranont have violated the charter by proposing a bill seeking to amend Section 190 of the constitution.

The group, comprising members of a network for national salvation led by Bovorn Yasinthon, said the 315 lawmakers might have violated Sections 26, 27, 28, 29, 68, 87 and 122 of the constitution because the bill they proposed seeks to leave out some phrases of Section 190, which requires that draft agreements to be made with other countries must get approval from parliament.

The phrases the lawmakers propose be left out concern the requirement for the cabinet to get opinions from the people and to explain to the parliament the contents of draft agreements involving economic and security issues,  trade, investment and national budgets.

In the petition, the group asks the court rule whether the 315 lawmakers had violated the constitution, to order the 315 lawmakers to withdraw the amendment bill, order the dissolution of the political parties of which they are members, and take legal action against them.
