Body found hidden in bathroom

The body of a woman was buried under the toilet of her Chanthaburi home for over a year before it was discovered, police said Thursday.

Police on Wednesday arrived at a one-storey house where the body was buried in the bathroom, just about 50 centimetres away from the toilet. Police dug about one metre deep into the ground and found several human body parts.

The skull was broken indicating that she was killed by being hit in the head by a hard object, police said.

Her body was sent for a post mortem examination.

The body was identified as Saowarot Deecharoen, 48, a snack vendor at a local market in Chanthaburi.

She lived at her home alone and was reported missing by her family in April last year. Her house had been closed and no one had entered it since, according to her family.

Her stepmother, Saowanan Deecharoen, found a hole in the bathroom when she re-opened the home to clean it.

She was shocked to see human body parts in it and alerted the police.

Police suggested that she could have been a victim of burglars or rapists who killed and buried her there.
