Froome holds Romandy lead, Navardauskas wins stage

Britain's race favourite Chris Froome held on to his overall lead in the Tour of Romandy as Lithuania's Ramunas Navardauskas won Thursday's second stage.

Garmkin rider Navardauskas won a sprint finish to the 190 km stage from Prilly to Granges, crossing the line ahead of Italy's Enrico Gasparotto (Astana) and Belgian Omega Pharma rider Gianni Meersman, winner of the first stage, in a tme of 4hr 51min 49sec.

Froome holds on to the overall lead, having won Tuesday's prologue.

Froome is hoping to win the five-stage race, which concludes on Sunday, as he steps up his preparations for this summer's Tour de France.

The two previous winners of this race, Australia's Cadel Evans (2011) and Froome's Sky team-mate Bradley Wiggins last year went on to win the Tour de France.
