Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit Thoopkrajang, accompanied by senior police officers, announced on Tuesday the arrests of Peerasil Aksornrat, 23, Siva Kampek, 25, and Porntip Channuan, 24, and the seizure of 230,000 methamphetamine pills, or yaba.

Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit said police acted on a tip-off that a drug gang would deliver a large amount of yaba pills, using a gray Honda Civic with the licence plate Cher Ngor (ฌง) 9756 Bangkok, on Ram Intra road in Bang Khen district.

The sedan was spotted on Soi Ramintra 27 and stopped. A search of the vehicle uncovered 25 packages of speed pills.

The two people in the car, Mr Peerasil and Mr Siva, told police they had planned to deliver the drugs to Ms Porntip, who was arrested later on Monday night.

According to Mr Peerasil's and Mr Siva's testimonies, a drug dealer in northern Thailand hired them to transport drugs to different clients. They were paid between 100,000 baht and 150,000 baht for each trip.

Ms Porntip was a drug trafficker working for inmates at the Thon Buri Special Prison, police said.
