Thirapong Sodasri, director-general of the Public Relations Department, has been transferred to a position as adviser to the prime minister, government spokeswoman Sansanee Nakpong said on Tuesday.
Ms Sansanee said Mr Thirapong's transfer was acknowledged by the cabinet at today's meeting.
She cited suitability as the reason for the transfer.
It had not yet been decided who should replace Mr Thirapong. The PRD chief oversees Channel 11 and Radio Thailand, she added.
