A video clip showing Pol Sen Sgt Maj Worawit Nukulkij, squad leader at Din Daeng police station, fleeing from at least two men who accused him of blackmailing a female friend into having sex with him at a hotel was posted on Youtube by a user named Kai Ja Dai Yin Mai Wa Siang Krai on Saturday, and went viral.

The video had received more than 133,300 views as of Wednesday, following media reports on the incident.

Pol Sen Sgt Maj Worawit refused to answer questions from reporters on his first day back at work after he made headlines. He said he would testify before a fact-finding committee, reports said.

The officer returned from a four-day leave to take commissioned police exams in Songkhla province. The tests concluded on Tuesday.

The investigation panel was set up by Din Daeng police chief Pol Col Panop Worathanatchakul, and chaired by his deputy Pol Lt Col Prapoj Anusiri, reports said.

Pol Col Panop said the incident could not be treated as a criminal case as the  victim and witnesses to the case had still not filed a complaint.

Pol Col Panop said the man who took the controversial video told police that it was likely that the victim would not take any legal action against the officer because there was no actual rape.
