Those wishing to turn their gardens into a floral paradise are invited to find inspiration at the 14th "Siam Botanical Show", which will feature colourful plants and flowers at The Mall Bang Kapi from tomorrow until May 12.

Hydrangeas, dahlias and carnations are the highlights of the 14th ‘Siam Botanical Show’ from tomorrow until May 12 at The Mall Bang Kapi.

Organised in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Extension and Thai Life Insurance, the 10-day show will see the shopping mall's MCC Hall on the 4th floor transformed into a colourful floral world featuring species of three cold-weather flowers _ hydrangeas, dahlias and carnations.

Hydrangeas produce petals of sumptuous colour, making them one of the most popular flowers in gardens. Dahlias usually grow among bushes, while bright-coloured carnations are durable.

In addition to the flower showcase, there is also the national decorative flower contest, which offers cash prizes worth more than 1 million baht, plus a trophy from HRH Princess Soamsawali.

The contest comprises 12 categories _ orange jasmine, dracaena, bonsai, crown of thorns, anthurium, garden croton, habenaria, aglaonema, orchid, caladium, variegated plants, and desert rose.

The fair is also a chance to shop for plants and garden accessories, and participate in workshops.
