New Central malls in Samui, Salaya

Central Pattana Plc (CPN) plans two new Central department stores in Koh Samui and Salaya, Nakhon Pathom with combined investment of seven billion baht, scheduled to open in 2017.

Company's president and CEO Kobchai Chirathivat said the planned CentralFestival Samui on Chaweng beach will cost 3.1 billion baht and be situated on a 37-rai site.

It will be CPN's first theme mall developed under the concept "Reminiscence of Southern Lifestyle" to serve the internationalisation of Koh Samui, which has become a global tourist destination. It is expected to be open in the first quarter of 2014.

CentralPlaza Salaya, to cost 3.9 billion baht, will be located on a 70-rai site on the main road.

It will serve the growing population of western Bangkok, Mr Kobchai said.

This large mall will feature a outdoor atmosphere with botanical gardens. It will be open in the third quarter of 2014.
