HM King and Queen to celebrate 63rd Coronation Day

Their Majesties the King and the Queen will appear at a ceremony today to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of Coronation Day in the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall.

An announcement by the Royal Household Bureau said their Majesties will leave Siriraj Hospital for the Grand Palace at 10.30am and then proceed to the Throne Hall for the event.

His Majesty will light candles at the ceremony, which will be attended by 20 Buddhist monks.

After that, His Majesty will ask His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to lead the rest of the Buddhist and Brahmin portions of the ceremony.

Their Majesties will leave the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall at the end of the ceremony. At noon, the Royal Thai Armed Forces will fire a 21-gun salute.

Also today, the Prasat Phra Thep Bidon in Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram will open from 8am to 5pm to allow the royal family, civil servants, and members of the public to pay their respects to past kings and queens.
