Moderate quake felt in Chiang Rai

An earthquake of 5.4 magnitude struck Myanmar early Tuesday and could be felt across the border in at least three districts of Chiang Rai, the Meteorological Department's Seismological Bureau reported.

The quake began at 3:17am and lasted several seconds. The epicentre was 29 kilometres north of the border town of Mae Sai.  Residents in Mae Sai and Chiang Saen districts felt the quake, and residents of Muang district reported feeling dizzy for about five seconds.

There were no reports of injuries or structural damage.
