New warrant in PAO chief killing

KHON KAEN : Police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of another suspect in the murder of the chief administrator of Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) last week.

Provincial Police Region 4 deputy chief Pol Maj Gen Jatupon Parnraksa said a warrant has been issued for Prapan Sripilai, 41, who lives in Chaiyaphum's Ban Khwao district.

Mr Prapan is one of four suspects in the fatal shooting of chief administrator Suchart Khotthum, 53.

Suchart was shot dead inside his Toyota Fortuner SUV in front of his home on Kasikorn Tungsan Road in Muang district on Friday.

Nong Rua police station deputy superintendent Pol Lt Col Somjit Kaemprom also faces an arrest warrant.

Mr Prapan and Pol Lt Col Somjit are both at large.

A third suspect who police have not identified also remains at large.

On Monday, a fourth suspect, Pol Snr Sgt Maj Veerasak Chamnanpol, 37, was arrested and is being held at Muang Khon Kaen police station.

Witnesses said Suchart was about to leave his home when three men riding in a black pickup truck arrived.

Two of the men left the vehicle and talked to Suchart for about five minutes before several gunshots were heard.

Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Chalermkiat Srivorakhan said Pol Snr Sgt Maj Veerasak had implicated Pol Lt Col Somjit in the shooting.

Pol Lt Col Somjit gunned down Suchart, Pol Gen Chalermkiat said.

Pol Maj Gen Jatupon said Mr Prapan is a close aide of Pol Lt Col Somjit.

He said Mr Prapan was one of the men who left the vehicle and talked to Suchart before Pol Lt Col Somjit gunned him down.

Pol Maj Gen Jatupon said Pol Snr Sgt Maj Veerasak identified Mr Prapan in security footage.
