Ex-airwoman's killer caught

A man was arrested at his home in Bang Phlat district on Friday for strangling a 63-year-old retired air force officer to death.

Police said Tawatchai Plaekchuen, 26, confessed that on May 4 he broke into FS 2 Payormsri Dechakup's house, which was not far from his, to rob her.

He punched the woman in the face when she screamed for help, said Pol Maj Gen Prinya Chansuriya, deputy commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

He then choked her until she was motionless, stole 500 baht and fled without realising that the victim would die.

Police said they had seized as evidence the shirt and pants that Mr Tawatchai wore while committing the crime. They charged him with murder and took him to Bang Phlat police station for legal proceedings.
