Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat on Sunday denied a rumour that army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha would be transferred, saying the government and the armed forces still enjoy strong ties.
He said now was not the time to talk about a reshuffle.
"The rumour is nonsensical. The relationship between the government and the armed forces is still good," ACM Sukumpol said.
The rumour had it that Gen Thanasak Patimapakorn, the Supreme Commander, would be transferred to permanent secretary for defence and Gen Prayuth would be made supreme commander until his retirement in October next year after having served as army chief for three years.
