Five people were killed and two others critically injured when two pickup trucks collided in Nakhon Phanom province on Sunday morning, police said.

Pol Lt Wichai Siriwong, a duty officer at Ban Paeng police station, said the head-on collision occurred at 4am on Highway No 212 (Nakhon Phanom-Ban Paeng).
A team of police, rescuers and medics sent to the scene found two heavily damaged Mitsubishi Triton pickup trucks.
In the first vehicle with licence plate Nakhon Phanom Gor Kor (กข) -7476, there were three fatalities and two serious injuries. Two men were killed in the second vehicle with licence plate Mukdahan Bor Jor (บจ) - 7851.
Witnesses told police that the pickup truck carrying driver Chumpol Singkha, 40, and four passengers including his wife, son, father and sister crashed into another pickup truck that was in the wrong lane.
The driver's wife and sister survived the crash.
Police were still trying to identify the two men in the second pickup truck.
