Police will seek an arrest warrant on Monday for a 45-year-old American for allegedly injuring a Thai woman, leaving her semi-paralysed.
The incident took place in the early hours of the morning of May 14, when Davis John Douglas took the 41-year-old and her two friends to a hotel in the Sukhumvit area, according to Pol Lt Col Ratchatachoke Sruayklang of Lumpini police station.
About half an hour affter the woman's two friends left the hotel, the staff reported hearing a woman calling for help.
The woman complained about neck pain, claiming she was attacked and thrown off a bed, Pol Lt Col Rachatachoke said.
She was taken to Police General Hospital for treatment and filed a complaint about the attack with Lumpini police last Wednesday.
She is semi-paralysed and unable to take care of herself and work.
According to Pol Lt Col Rachatachoke, the Immigration Bureau had informed police that Mr Douglas had travelled back to the US on May 15.
A warrant for his arrest will be sought from the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court today, after which the US embassy will be asked to help with the arrest of Mr Douglas.
Investigators will also contact the Rights and Liberties Protection Department of the Justice Ministry to help support her medical treatment, Pol Lt Col Rachatachoke said.
