Acting on a tip, the officers searched Salinee Phuangnil, 25, while she was waiting for a Thai Airways International flight to Vientiane about 6.30pm on Friday.

They found a total of 3,150 grammes of ya ice hidden in 69 bobbins inside her large luggage, said Jumpol Rangkasikorn, an officer with the Investigation and Suppression Bureau.

Ms Salinee, a native of Sing Buri province, told the officers that she had travelled from New Delhi.

Her relatives in India had asked her to carry the luggage to a Nigerian in Thailand for 40,000 baht, she told officers.

She had to fly to Laos to meet her boyfriend first before crossing the border to Thailand to deliver the luggage.

Mrs Salinee was charged with possessing a category one drug and carrying it via Thailand without permission, Mr Jumpol said.
