Restaurant owner killed in robbery

A restaurant owner was on Saturday strangled to death and her cook hurt in a robbery believed to have been carried out by three Cambodians, Chanthaburi police said.

Police found the body of Samlee Siriporn, 56, behindthe cashier's counter at the eatery on Sukhumvit Road in tambon Khlong Narai about 4.30am. The victim had nylon stockings tied around her neck and ankles.

Cook Paw Artharn, 56, was injured after an assailant tried to strangle her.

The attackers escaped with 10,000 baht in cash and stole a vehicle from the car park, police said.
