The cabinet has approved the appointment of Atchaporn Charuchinda, secretary-general of the Office of the Council of State, as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), deputy government spokesman Pakdihan Himathongkham said on Tuesday.
Mr Atchaporn’s appointment was proposed to the cabinet for approval by the Ministry of Finance, Mr Pakdihan said.
Mr Atchaporn will replace Chaikasem Nitisiri, who resigned to take up the position of justice minister in the Yingluck Shinawat cabinet.
The Council of state is the government's legal advisory body.
