Achporn: Leaves Council of State

Deputy government spokesman Pakdiharn Himathongkham said that Mr Achporn's appointment was proposed to the cabinet by the Finance Ministry.

Mr Chaikasem resigned last Thursday as chairman of the securities watchdog to take over as justice minister under the Yingluck Shinawatra administration.

Mr Achporn was in his previous post at the Council of State, the government's legal advisory body, since 2010.

He is also an independent director of PTT Exploration and Production.

Mr Achporn is a member of the Water and Flood Management Committee and part of the government's legal team appealing the Administrative Court's recent ruling to halt the 350 billion baht worth of water management projects.

In addition, Benja Louichareon resigned from the SEC board to become deputy finance minister in the June 30 cabinet reshuffle.
