Pol Lt Seksan Thamma-at, an investigator at Tha Muang police station, said a team of officers and medics were sent to the boy's house after receiving a report of the incident at 8.30am.

When the team arrived, they found the teenager lying on his back in front of his computer wearing only a pair of short pants. There were no bruises or signs of a struggle on his body.

Sathon Silpa-charoen, the boy's father, 60, told police that he woke up around 7am and went to help his wife sell sweets near their home.

When he returned home at about 8am, he found his son lying on the floor, dead.

Mr Sathon said his son had no health problems.

Following a medical examination, doctors said the boy may have suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while playing the computer game, adding that his weight was above average, at 135 kilogrammes.

Pol Col Theeradet Itthipakkul, chief of Tha Muang police station, said parents must oversee what their children are doing in their free time and stop them from playing video games for long consecutive hours.
