A second grader said that he no longer wanted to attend the school because Boosarin Siripanyatorn, the principal of Chumchon Wat Tung Luang School in Pak Tho district of this central province, told him he was stupid, spoke badly about his parents, and physically abused him.

His mother, Pen Leetrakul, claimed that children at the school often told their parents that the head teacher often beat them and scolded them.

She said the protestors earlier gathered to voice their discontent at the school in June. Their complaints were acknowledged by the education office in the district which promised to conduct an investigation and provide feedback.

The group, however, has yet to see any changes or hear back from the office.

Mrs Pen said the protesters demanded authorities remove Ms Boosarin because several parents were refusing to send their kids to the school until the headmistress is removed.

She claimed many parents had evidence of Ms Bossarin’s actions and might press assault charges against her if necessary.

Krit Rangsisaena na Ayutthaya, the assistant provincial governor, and other officials accepted a letter from the protesters.

Ms Boosarin could not be reached for comment.
