Girl, boyfriend slain in love triangle row

CHUMPHON - A 14-year-old girl and her 24 year-old boyfriend were stabbed to death by a third man after a meeting to resolve a love triangle that turned deadly in Sawi district, police said.

Pol Capt Somchai Boonkerd, the duty officer at Sawi police station, said police were called to the girl’s school, the scene of the double homicide, just after midnight on Wednesday.

The teenager, a Mathayom 2 student, and a man identified later as Wanchai Kosol were lying dead in an open area in front of a school building. Their bodies bore multiple stab wounds. Wanchai’s body was on top of the girl’s and there was a knife stuck to his chest, Thai Rath Online reported.

Investigators learned the girl, whose name was withheld, had been in a love affair with Wanchai, a casual worker from Surin, but later began a second relationship with another man, also in his 20s. The second man asked the girl to leave Wanchai but she refused. All three met at the school late on Tuesday night, police said, in an effort to settle their love triangle.

Police believed the third man killed the girl and his rival in a fit of rage after they failed to settle their problem.

Investigators have identified the alleged killer and will seek an arrest warrant, Pol Capt Somchai said.
