Laos-Indonesia trade triples

VIENTIANE - Trade between Laos and Indonesia reached 27 million United States dollars in 2012, a nearly three-fold increase year-on-year, state media reports said on Friday.

Bilateral trade was 9.9 million dollars last year, the Vientiane Times reported citing Lao commerce ministry data.

"Lao exports to Indonesia have included garment wares, coffee, tobacco and fur, while products coming back into the country include fertilisers, vehicles, spare parts and electrical appliances," the state-owned daily said.

The trade figures were disclosed in the secretive communist country to mark a visit by Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa.
