Ex-shooter Jakkrit treated for stress

Police brought former Olympian shooter Jakkrit Panichpatikum to Police General Hospital on Sunday to be treated for stress after he spent his first night in a police cell having been arrested for assaulting his wife and mother.

Mr Jakkrit sought medical treatment for stress after he was arrested and jailed on Saturday, said Pol Lt Prakrom Chukhao of Min Buri police station.

A doctor at the hospital reported that Mr Jakkrit had suffered extreme stress and was prescribed medication.

Police took Mr Jakkrit back to Min Buri station at 4am Sunday and put him in solitary confinement.

Police will seek an order for his further detention at Min Buri provincial court Monday and will object to any proposal that he be freed on bail.

Mr Jakkrit was charged with attempted murder, assault, illegal possession of firearms and violent acts against his wife and his mother.
