Beauty clinic busted for ugly practices

Health authorities and police raided a beauty clinic in Phaya Thai district on Monday and found medical procedures were being carried out by unauthorised health professionals.

The raid on the Siam Clinic came after an informant who was sent in for a nose job alerted authorities that cosmetic procedures were being performed by medical assistants instead of doctors. Officials also found during the raid silicone products of questionable origin. They had no proper packaging and could not be traced.

According to authorities, Siam Clinic opened more than 20 years ago as a beauty clinic. It offers cosmetic procedures in addition to beauty treatments. The clinic was registered by Maj Gen Phadung Sattruli, who has a medical licence.

Police have brought three charges against those involved in the clinic's operations: selling medical products without permission; providing medical services without permission; and providing services outside permitted hours.
