Five people are thought to have been injured when a fire broke out in a building used to store and sell monastic supplies in Songkhla province on Thursday, a Post Today report said.

The report said the fire destroyed the four-storey building, where candles, joss sticks, monks' robes and firecrackers were stored.

The building was located near the Clock Tower in Hat Yai district.

It is believed five people in the building were injured when the stored firecrackers exploded, the report said.

About 20 fire engines were at the scene. Firefighters took over three hours to contain the flames.

The cost of damage was estimated at about 100 million baht.
