Sia Odd's warning, Tono's triangle, no laughing matter

Sia Odd's warning, Tono's triangle, no laughing matter

Film stands firm: A hostile third party is out to undermine superstar Rattapoom "Film" Tokongsub, says his former benefactor, ex-jailbird Sitthikorn "Sia Ood" Boonchim.

Sia Ood, a former millionaire amulet trader released from jail last month after serving a sentence for a fraud conviction, says he was contacted shortly after his release by someone who wants to destroy Film's reputation.

"He asked for my help. I ignored the text messages, refused to take his calls. Earlier, he visited me in jail but I refused to see him", he told Thai Rath newspaper.

Sia Ood says media reports that he is preparing to ask for the return of a house which he gave Film seven years ago are untrue. He urged Film not to respond to the provocation.

"I have never uttered a word suggesting I wanted Film to return the house, which I gave him when he was just starting in the industry and his family was hard up", Sia Ood said.

"His mother had borrowed against their place and the bank repossessed it. She asked me to buy it back at auction, which I did.

"Later, Film asked me to transfer it from my name to his, which I did without complaint, and I have not had a word of thanks since."

In his heyday, Sia Ood was a well-known benefactor to social causes and young male entertainers who took his fancy, including Film.

Sia Ood said he attempted to kill himself with an overdose of sleeping pills two years ago, and gave away all his worldly possessions before doing so. Since his release from jail he has lived a life of penury, but is happy with his lot and has no plan to call in acts of generosity from the past.

"I am pleased Film has now made a name for himself with my help. He failed to visit me in prison, but I am not angry about that," he insisted.

"I know I am a bad person and he doesnt want to be associated with me. But I urge him to think twice before criticising me, as someone is making up stories to set us at odds."

Film last week warned the public not to fall victim to his former benefactor. He insisted the house was in his name, and Sia Ood can make no claim to it.

"I would warn people inclined to believe him not to fall victim to this man's tricks," he said.

The reports said Sia Ood intended to follow up a letter he sent, via the media, to Film last year in which he urged Film to do the right thing in a paternity suit which had engulfed him.

In September, 2010, Film was embroiled in a paternity dispute when a minor actress, Annie Brook, claimed she had given birth to their child, Tekayu, then aged three months.

Film, who admits they had an affair, refused to admit paternity unless Annie agreed to a DNA test.  The pair took each other to court, and reached a settlement last year.

Writing from his jail cell, Sia Ood had asked Film to transfer ownership of the house to Tekayu. Even if Film was unwilling to admit he was the father, Sia Ood would ensure the boy at least had a place in his name when he grew up.

"The home he is in will be the home which the whole country knows was once owned by his father," the letter said.

Sia Ood was jailed in 2010 for cheating the public and using the royal insignia without permission to produce a batch of amulets.

In 2006,  the businessman lashed out at Film after the young star, denying reports he had found a rich sugar daddy, tried to pass off Sia Ood as a mere acquaintance.

Sia Ood went before the media with mortgage documents, photographs and other evidence which showed their relationship went much deeper than Film had let on.

A tearful Film was forced to go before the media and admit that he had lied.

Film said last week he had no plans to meet Sia Ood and just wanted to get on with his work.

Facebook photo fracas

Singer Pakin "Tono" Kumvilaisak is dealing with fanclub woes on a new front after an old nemesis of his girlfriend popped up on social media, publishing a picture of herself and Tono in a friendly embrace.

Fans are already upset with Tono after he declared this month he was seeing sharp-tongued Channel 7 actress Pattarida "Tangmo" Patcharaweerapong.

Now, actress and former Miss Thailand Universe Fonthip "Pooklook" Watcharatrakul has created a headache for the young singer, posting a picture of the pair taken in Surat Thani.

Tangmo and Pooklook both act in soap operas for Channel 7, but are old enemies. Tono appears in the picture with his hand around Pooklook's waist.

Since Pooklook published the picture on Facebook, members of Tangmo's fanclub have accused Pooklook of trying to stir up trouble between Tono and Tangmo. Others who disapprove of the pairing with Tono suggest she might like to take the friendship further.

Tono says he posed with Pooklook at her request, though he didn't know that she and Tangmo have bad blood.

The actresses fell out over Channel 7 leading man and notorious Romeo Veraparb "Vee" Suparbpaiboon.

Pooklook and Vee were once an item, but their relationship fell apart amid rumours that Tangmo tried to lure him away.

Outspoken Tangmo accused Pooklook, her junior, of failing to show respect to her elders, turning up late for work, and herself being a man-stealer. Pooklook responded saying she had cut Tangmo out of her life.

Asked about the latest fuss, Tono said he didnt care about Tangmo's past, and insisted their fanclubs were giving them no grief.

"It's just a girl thing. Why take an interest in it?" he said.

"Don't get too serious about social media, or try to work out which fans are taking whose side. The people around us, who we can see, are more important.

"I am less interested in someone's past than what happens next. I am from basic stock, so I am hardly going to hold myself out to criticise people."

Tono said Tangmo had laughed off the incident, and didn't mind him posing for the picture with Pooklook.

Pooklook, meanwhile, insisted she wasn't trying to cause mischief, and routinely asks entertainers she meets to pose for pictures.

Kuk accuses comedian pal

A TV presenter admits she was too trusting when she let a comedian she now accuses of theft and harassment into her home.

Chonthicha "Kuk" Chua-eampan, who presents a Thai country music show on cable TV, complained to Nonthaburi police earlier this month that comedian Jakkapum Chernyim stole her mobile phone and used it under false pretences.

Kuk, 24, who went before the media to discuss her ordeal last week, said she and Jakkapum, also known as Yordyuth Songklot, 32, lived at the city condo she shares with her father for four months.

She says Jakkapum claimed he had left his wife and child and needed somewhere to live.

"We shared the same small condo, but did not sleep together," she told a TV interviewer.

"He would leave home early every morning, telling me he had to take his child to school, but insisting he and his wife were now apart.

"However, one day I received a Line message from Jakkapum's wife, who accused me of stealing her husband.

"I found out she was also four months pregnant with their second child."

Kuk said she conducted the relationship with Jakkapum under the watchful eye of her father, Somjit, who knew him.

Mr Somjit, 50, said he worked as a manager to a comedian, so was familiar with the industry.

"He asked me if he could see my daughter, and at one point even asked for her hand in marriage. I told him to sort out his affairs with his family first," he said.

Kuk said she and Jakkapum argued on July 10 after he took her to a karaoke joint. He forcibly took her phone and in a fit of jealousy sent threatening messages to her boss and friends.

"I will make sure you never work in this industry again," he is said to have told her.

He returned the phone the next day after she and her father laid a complaint at Klongkoi police station in Pak Kret.

Police are investigating. Jakkapum has yet to comment.
