PT to meet July 30 on bills

The Pheu Thai Party will hold a meeting of its MPs and members on July 30 on important bills to be deliberated in the House of Representatives when the parliament resumes its ordinary session on Aug 1, party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said on Sunday.

Mr Prompong said that on July 24, prior to the Pheu Thai meeting on July 30, whips of parties in the coalition government will hold a meeting to set the priority for important bills to be placed on the House agenda.

A conclusion made by the government whips would then be forwarded to the July 30 meeting of Pheu Thai MPs and members.

Mr Prompong, however, said it was unlikely for important bills to be deliberated on Aug 1, when the meeting is expected to debate general issues.

Important bills were expected to be on the House agenda in the following week. The whips July 24 meeting is expected to decide whether the 2014 Budget Bill or the amnesty bill of Pheu Thai MP for Samut Prakan Worachai Hema will be first on the agenda on Aug 7.

Whatever is first on the agenda will not lead to a conflict in Pheu Thai since party MPs and cabinet ministers are duty-bound to follow a party resolution, Mr Prompong said.

The Pheu Thai spokesman said a party for members of the coalition will be held on July 31 at the Miracle Grand Hotel.
