At the start of Buddhist Lent, devotees perform tak bat dok mak _ or giving flower alms _ while trying their best to avoid the morning downpour in an alley near Wat Bowon Niwet in Bangkok.
The ceremony, in which laypeople give flowers to monks, is performed at the beginning of the rain retreat at only a few temples, but is best known in the province of Saraburi.
