Used-car dealers told to give details

The secretary-general of the Consumer Protection Board (CPB)is warning used car dealers to produce and display detailed vehicle records on their vehicle labels when a new law takes effect.

CPB secretary-general Jirachai Moontongroy said Thursday that the new law requires used-vehicle traders to present detailed labels beginning Sept 9.

The required details would cover the vehicle history, accident record, legal obligations and hours of usage in addition to the type of vehicle. 

Violators could face a jail term of up to six months and/or a fine of up to 50,000 baht.

If an offender is also a vehicle manufacturer, they could face one year in jail and a fine of up to 100,000 baht.

Juristic persons as well as their directors,managers and authorised associates will be subject to the law.
