It's always a dilemma if you should keep the pile of business cards that you haven't looked at in months, but are still reluctant to throw them away. You never know when you may need to contact the people.
The CamCard app saves you a pile of unwanted paper - it saves the business card virtually and syncs across smart phones, tablets, computers, and web apps. It also links to your LinkedIn profile.
Once the card is photographed with the app, the augment reality technology scans the text and arranges the name, position, company, phone number and email address in your phonebook. Although many business card these days are not conventionally designed, the app is able to read them accurately most of the time. However, it isn't possible to read all languages.
Unfortunately, the application doesn't support Thai. The paid version offers two options applicable to Western and East Asian languages, including Mandarin (both simple and traditional), Japanese and Korean.
The trial version allows you to record 50 cards, and two new ones each week. The app costs 373 baht on Google Play and requires an Android 2.0 phone with an auto-focusing camera.
Make sure you create an account to back up the data, and you are taking another step closer to a paperless life.
