Expect Liverpool traffic jam

City police are preparing to deal with major traffic jams on Sunday when Liverpool take on Thailand in a friendly match at Rajamangala National Stadium on Ramkhamhaeng Road.

At least 50,000 people are expected to attend the match, said Pol Maj Gen Uthaiwan Kaewsa-ard, the Metropolitan Police Bureau deputy chief in charge of traffic.

He said traffic on Ramkhamhaeng Road was generally heavy on weekends as the area is densely populated, and the football match was likely to exacerbate the problem.

A full force of traffic officers would be deployed to direct traffic around the area, Pol Maj Gen Uthaiwan said.

People are encouraged to use public transport instead of personal cars to travel to the stadium because the parking space at Rajamangala is limited, he said. The match kicks off at 5.40pm.
