Korn has acute kidney failure

Former finance minister Korn Chatikavanij was admitted to hospital on Saturday with acute kidney failure.

"On Saturday afternoon, I'm back to where I was in the hospital after I just recovered from dengue fever. Now I have acute kidney failure and the doctor told me to rest in the hospital right away," the prominent figure of the opposition Democrat Party wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday night.

Mr Korn said he initially did not feel ill but knew there was something wrong with him so he went to see his doctor.

"I think I will stay in the hospital until I'm fully recovered," he wrote.

On July 28, Mr Korn posted a message on his Facebook page, saying he had had dengue fever for about 10 days.

He said it was the first time in 30 years that his weight was under 90 kilogrammes.
