The Munich-based, luxury leather brand Aigner unveils its Autumn/Winter 2013 leather collection in Bangkok.

Inspired by Iceland, a country with a breathtaking natural environment, its untouched beauty, unique architecture and pristine nature prompted the luxury leather brand to let this character-rich landscape flow into the designs of the new collection.

This journey also led into exploring the realms of Nordic myths and legends: a fantasy world rooted in nature.

For the Autumn/Winter 2013 leather collection, head designer Christian Beck deliberately plays up the contrast between warm and cold _ and accentuates the feminine, the soft and the mysterious. It is a lively play with the elements _ primordial and natural, and at the same time mystical, too. The collection is an interplay of matt and shiny patterns. Rough and coarse leather structures emulate the feel of the island's natural environment and reinterpret it _ evocations of the ground's surfaces, of rocks or tree bark for instance. Particularly effective are the oversized croc or turtle prints, as well as the crinkle-style leather goods.

The colour range reflects strong, saturated hues including aqua, natural or earth colours that are reminders of the worlds of myths and legends _ from lapis to purple, and even including delicate porcelain hues. Aigner's hallmark colour, chianti red, is again the highlight.

The highlight of the creative details this season is the floral reinterpretation of the Fair-Isle pattern, which is here not Nordic and ice-cold, but instead presents itself in a flowery and mystical guise. Fur and knitted details or elaborate leather weaving are also presented in the new handbag creations. A touch of luxury is gained from elegant metal elements in light gold. Whether as twist lock, zip or latch closure, all are adorned with the characteristic Aigner horseshoe logo. The bags come in typical Aigner shapes. Classics, such as the "All In" or "Icon Cover" are given a lease of life with new creative elements. The result: exclusive leather designs that combine tradition and innovation in a rather special way _ sometimes the look is traditional and clean, sometimes it is sophisticated, at other times it is pure femininity.

The Aigner flagship store is on the first floor of Siam Paragon (call 02-610-9599). Price ranges from 35,000 to 80,000 baht.

Casual-chic Quadri

French luxury house, Longchamp, introduces in Bangkok the new "Quadri" handbags, the star attraction from the brand's Autumn 2013 collection.

Recognisable by its bias stamped weave, the casual-chic Quadri line illustrates Longchamp's leatherworking expertise. Designed especially for girl on the go, the new Quadri is everything she wants a bag to be. Crafted from cowhide leather with a distinctive crisscross grain, it feels as supple and worn-in as her favourite pair of jeans. The new bags features the rock 'n' roll spirit in the form of the nickel-finish hardware _ the rivets, and especially the cute metal plaque engraved with Longchamp emblems. The choice of colours, each one a contemporary classic, ranges from everyday staples such as black, clay and ecru to vibrant carmine and sophisticated cedar.

For every day, the line offers the hold-all Quadri tote. It is packed with practical features, including several inside pockets, two strong handles and a removable shoulder strap. The on-trend cross-body bag is great for hands-free days, while there's also a spacious shopper and a roomy hobo with an ingenious adjustable strap.
