When people say Laos is "Thailand 30 years ago", it could serve both as a sincere compliment to the pristine life and nature and a sly rebuke to the slow pace of development. Near the capital Vientiane, we can still see ducks walking in a straight line on the paddy-field ridge with the verdant green plantation and mountains as a backdrop.
Although Laos is in the United Nations' List of Least Developed Countries, the arrival of the Asean Economic Community will bring a new threshold. The AEC will open doors for foreign investors to do business in our neighbouring country, which will boost its attractive investment climate.
