Muang Thong determined to hold top spot

SCG Muang Thong United are confident that they will remain Thai Premier League leaders for another week.

Buriram’s Jirawat Makkrarom, in white, in action against Esteghlal in midweek.

On paper, they should have few problems when they host relegation contenders Bangkok United tomorrow.

"We are at full strength without any injured players," said Muang Thong assistant coach Pol Chomchuen.

"The atmosphere in our team is very good. We will protect our lead as long as possible."

The defending champions overtook Buriram United in midweek. The Kirins are two points ahead of the Thunder Castle, who have a game in hand.

Bangkok United coach Sasom Popprasert said: "We have been improving and our main target is to avoid relegation. Muang Thong are a strong team and we would be happy with a draw."

Buriram, who lost 1-0 at Iranian champions Esteghlal in the first leg of their AFC Champions League quarter-final, should also win when they host relegation strugglers Samut Songkhram tomorrow.

Buriram are also at full strength and buoyed by their narrow defeat against Esteghlal.

Elsewhere, Bangkok Glass will play without striker Leandro dos Santos, who is suspended, when they host Chonburi today.

Bangkok Glass coach Atthaphol Puspakom said: "We will drop our goalkeeper Narit Taweekul who has suffered a slump in form. It will be a tough match but we are confident that we will win."

Chonburi will be without Japanese Kazuto Kushida, who is injured.
