The cabinet has extended the term of the diesel excise tax reduction of 0.005 baht per litre for another month, until Sept 30, reports said.
The diesel excise tax reduction was set to end on August 31.
The excise tax on diesel has been cut from 5.31 baht to 0.005 baht a litre since April 21, 2011 with the aim of maintaining the retail price of diesel below 30 baht per litre in Bangkok and its vicinity. Fuel is dearer outside Bangkok.
