King Power begin title defence with win

HUA HIN : Reigning champions King Power began the defence of their King's Cup elephant polo title with a 9-7 win against newcomers CDD The Devil yesterday.

Mekhong’s Cindy Bishop, left, in action against Mercedes Benz.

King Power's Nattapong Pratumlee scored the first goal of the 2013 tournament. But it was not a one-sided match as King Power could only defeat CDD 9-7.

Mercedes Benz proved much too strong for Mekhong, who feature former beauty queen Cindy Bishop. Mercedes demonstrated their all-round skills and won 15-7.

Tiffany's Show Pattaya, who played a celebrity match last year, are participants this time. However, they got off to an unconvincing start with a 10-3 loss to Rueang Chang.

The tournament ends on Sunday and admission is free.
