"Under Construction", a solo exhibition by Bangkok-based Japanese artist Eiji Sumi, is a mixed-media exhibition comprised of paintings and installations influenced by the artist's obsession with construction sites. By imitating visual patterns in his paintings and juxtaposing them with found objects from construction sites, Sumi transports viewers into a scene hovering between progressive expansion and dystopian decay.

In "Under Construction", Sumi experiments with liberating his paintings from the confines of their frames through their placement and interactions with his installations and mixed-media artworks.

Collaborating with Sumi by designing sound art specifically for the exhibition is New York-based Swedish sound designer Niklas Moller.

"Circus" _ a new painting exhibition by Dallas based artist Michele Mikesell is inspired by a quote from American writer and poet Charles Bukowski: "We're all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesn't. We are terrorised and flattened by trivialities; we are eaten up by nothing."

In "Circus", Mikesell presents her new technique incorporating brushing, wiping, scraping and sanding paint, resulting in a beautifully textured surface which adds depth and personality to her characters. Mikesell sees humanity in what, some would say, are dark places. She believes these dark places are where we draw our strength and our creativity. She portrays what she sees in the human condition. She sees strength, bravery, solitude and isolation in humanity. Her paintings are about the universal human experience.

H Project Space presents an international collaboration, planned site-specifically. Mairin Grant is based in Ireland and Kenji Nagai in Japan. Both artists exchange and respond to each other's art as an ongoing project of mutual influence that began four years ago.

The collaboration started when Mairin first met Kenji in Europe and later visited Japan where she became influenced by Shinto culture, the spiritual practice of linking the present with the past that reflects ideas about the elements and seasons of nature.
