Thailand beat Australia 3 sets to nil in the World Championships qualifier in Japan on Wednesday.
The national team easily won the match opener 25-17, 25-15 and 25-17 against the 103rd world ranked side in Komaki, north of Nagoya city.
Thailand, which is 12th in the world rankings, will meet Taiwan on Friday followed by Vietnam on Saturday and hosts Japan on Sunday.
The five teams play a round-robin format with the top two booking places at the World Championship in Italy.
