TrueVisions told to remove banner ads

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has ordered pay-TV operator TrueVisions to remove a 10-second advertisement from a banner showing TV programmes while consumers change channels.

The decision came after an investigation by the NBTC's broadcasting committee following consumers' complaints about the ad, which blocked a large part of the TV screen and forced viewers to watch it.

The regulator said if TrueVisions does not follow the order, the company will be fined a maximum of 5 million baht plus 100,000 baht a day for the continuing broadcast of the ad.

The NBTC sent the letter to TrueVisions on Tuesday, and the firm has the right to submit the case within 90 days for an Administrative Court decision.
