PATTAYA - An intoxicated Singaporean woman jumped from a fifth floor balcony at a hotel in the resort city of Pattaya on Monday after an argument with her husband, police said.
Pol Lt Sombat Kaewmulmook, an investigator at Pattaya police station, said Ang Gek Noi, 42, sustained a broken left leg and breathing difficulties as a result of the fall and was taken to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.
Chua Wee Peng, the victim's spouse, 42, told police that he and his wife went out drinking prior to the incident. After returning to their room at Siam Bayshore Resort and Spa Hotel, Ms Peng wanted to drink more. He stopped her from doing so, which led to a loud argument, the husband said.
Songkran Suwamas, a hotel security guard, said he went up to the room to ask the couple to lower their voices after complaints from other customers at the hotel. As he was talking with other members of hotel staff, the woman suddenly ran out to the balcony and leaped off, the guard said.
Police are conducting further investigations to determine why the woman jumped.
