Parked train derails in Suphan Buri

A parked train locomotive slipped off the rails in Suphan Buri province early Tuesday morning. Nobody was hurt, reports said.

The reports said Suphan Buri-Bangkok diesel train No 356 was parked at Malaimaen train stop in front of Kannasut Suksalai School at the time.

The locomotive slipped off the rail track about 4.05am, probably because of the failure in the hydraulic braking system, according to reports. There were no other explanations how the train came off the rails.

One of the coaches also derailed but there were no casualties. The train had no passengers.

The train was stationary, waiting for a scheduled departure to Bangkok when the accident occurred. The accident did not disrupt the services of other trains.  The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) was investigating.

On Monday,  about 8.30pm, freight train No 536 derailed at Khon Kaen railway station.  Two loaded oil tankers  slipped off the track, but did not obstruct other trains.  The cause was being investigated.
