Nod for Montenegro visa agreement

Nod for Montenegro visa agreement

The cabinet on Tuesday gave the green light for Thailand and Montenegro to exempt holders of official and diplomatic passports from both sides from having to obtain visas for short term visits to either country, government deputy spokesman Pakdiharn Himathongkham said.

The Foreign Ministry plan was approved in principle during today's cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisarn on behalf of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who is currently on a trip to Switzerland, Italy and Montenegro.

Mr Pakdiharn said the agreement is designed to make it more convenient for holders of official and diplomatic passports to travel to either country for periods not exceeding 90 days.

"The agreement is an increase of cooperation between the two countries, which will lead to the development of relations, particularly in the fields of politics, economy and tourism.

"However, both sides can deny entry to the other side for security and public health reasons," the spokesman said.

Ms Yingluck's elder brother, former prime minister Thaksin, is believed to have an ordinary Montenegro passport.
