Pracha: No rubber rally on Sept 14

Rubber farmers are satisfied by the national rubber policy committee's plan to raise the subsidy for farmers to 2,520 baht per rai capped at 25 rai per farmer and will not hold a rally on Sept 14, Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Promnok said on Tuesday.

Pol Gen Pracha said Amnuay Yuttitham, farmer's network coordinator for 14 southern provinces and the central provinces of Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi, had contacted him to say that the planned rally would not go ahead.

Mr Amnuay told him that farmers were satisfied with the committee's decision, which was approved by the cabinet earlier today.

Mr Pracha said rubber farmers who wish to get the subsidy can register for it from today until the end of September. After that the money would be transferred to bank accounts of the farmers who have registered.

He added that the 2,520 baht per rai subsidy would enable rubber farmers to get 90 baht for a kilogramme of rubber.
