Thai spikers lose to Kazakhstan

NAKHON RATCHASIMA - Thailand lost to Kazakhstan at the 17th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship by three sets to one (24-26, 24-26, 25-17 and 20-25).

It was the second straight defeat for the Thai side, ranked 16th in the world, after a loss to world's No 3 Japan last Sunday at the 2014 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship qualifications. However, Thailand had already qualified for the World Championship next year in Italy before the Japan match.

The Kazakh team is ranked 28th in the world.

In Friday's match, the Thai spikers committed many mistakes and serving errors during the first two sets. They fought back and clinched the third set but were unable to gain the upper hand in the fourth and final set.

The Thai team will face Australia at 2pm Saturday. The Australian team on Friday defeated Mongolia in three straight sets.
