Two closed circuit television cameras were torched and seven others stolen by suspected separatist militants in Pattani on Sunday, police said.

Pol Lt Veerayuth Intarat, an investigator at Kapor police station, led a team of police and forensic experts to inspect the areas where the surveillance cameras were destroyed or stolen. The team collected fingerprints and other evidence of arson and theft.

The incidents were likely coordinated attacks that happened early Sunday morning, he said, adding that the insurgents may have also wanted to destroy camera evidence.
