A teacher was shot and seriously wounded in Pattani's Nong Chik district on Tuesday afternoon.
Boonsom Thongsriprai, chairman of the Teachers Confederation of Three Southern Border Provinces, said the attacl occurred about 3.10pm.
Veerayuth Thongnopparat, a teacher of Ban Nam Dam School in tambon Pulo Puyo of Nong Chik district, was returning home on a motorcycle at the time.
Mr Veerayuth, after being shot, was able to drive away heading to the hospital. On the way, he was helped by police providing security for teachers. He was then rushed to Nong Chik hospital where he underwent surgery.
