The short film contest "The Style by Toyota 9FilmFest" is rounding off this weekend with a two-day splash at Siam Paragon, complete with music, dance and an awards ceremony.

The 9FilmFest is in its third edition, this year with the Japanese car maker as the main supporter. The contest was announced in June and a few hundred entries have been submitted.
The rules of the competition make the event unique: Each film must be no longer than nine minutes, and each year the films must contain a "signature item" _ an object that must appear in order to qualify. This year the signature item was "waterway".
Nine films have made it to the final round, and each contestant has found a way to feature "waterway" _ from a stream to a river, even a flood _ in the story.
The finalists are: The Great River (a polluted river and how to save it); Clueless (a lighthearted investigative story taking place near a paddy field), Bangkurai Pradesh (a man laments the woes caused by the flood of 2011), Teppanyaki Kamakazi (a comedian and his misadventures), The Guardian (a man who lost his son in a drowning accident tries to learn to swim); Distortion (a man and his dark past), Cream (magical make-up wreaks havoc among young people who want to look beautiful); Lie (digital identities are confusing, corrupting and deceitful) and Clock Blocked (how a clock almost ruins a man's life).
The screening of the nine films will take place on Sunday at Paragon Cineplex at 7pm.
The ceremony will be preceded by World Music concert presented by Eddie Baytos and The Nines.
On Saturday, there will be an international dance workshop at 3.30pm and a DJ set at 5.30pm.
